I love Sundays! They really help me to see my character flaws up close. So uplifting! But they also help me to see how I can fix them.
I figure it's finally time I make some goals; create some new habits to replace the bad ones. One that I think I should focus on is a big one for me: procrastination. Here it is, February 17th and I'm finally making New Year's Resolutions! But, before I address that one, I want to focus on a couple of others first. (oh, be quiet!)
#1- Organization
When searching for one of my many lost items, I reached under my nightstand and pulled out two self-help organization books. One of which had never even been opened. The other I have had for about two years and haven't been able to finish it, yet. Yes, it's time to get organized.
I work with the teenage girls in my church and I heard one of them comment, "My mom knows where everything in the house is." Wow! How would that be?! One of my biggest dreams is to be able to lie down at night in my already made bed, with crisp, (maybe even ironed --*gasp*) clean sheets and know that everything is in its place, clean, and in order. The girls are in bed, on time, the dishes are clean and put away, my husband's lunch is already made and in the fridge, and I have all of the meals for the next day (week, even) planned out, etc., etc., etc.
So, I'm going to stop dreaming and finally start planning. Here it is:
Habit #1
Spend fifteen minutes of speed cleaning every day. This can include organizing a cluttered space, doing dishes, sweeping and mopping the floor, and so on.
#2- Spiritual growth
I realize that I can't do any of these habits consistantly without the help of my "higher power," whom I call my Heavenly Father. So, in order to be able to stay motivated and uplifted throughout this grueling cycle, I'm going to do this:
Habit #2
Read three pages of my Book of Mormon, and or spend half an hour studying my scriptures every day, as well as really and sincerely praying as much as I can during the day - every day.
Those are my habits for the next few weeks. Once I feel fairly comfortable (maybe in about a month) I'll add another habit.
I'm, of course, open to suggestions.....but not discouraging ones.
